Student Of The Year 18/12/2023

Many congratulations to William, who is our Student of the Year for 2023. On presenting the award, Sensei Jim talked about the difference between liking the idea of being a black belt, and actually wanting it, to the extent that you put everything into getting there. William has trained very hard this year in preparation, attended every week with a determination and self-discipline that has been inspiring, and we are sure he will be successful at the next grading. He has been committed to improving, including entering many competitions this year, which must have been well outside his comfort zone at first, and has performed amazingly well, with the highlights of taking joint 3rd in kumite at this year's Shotokan Cup, and 4th in kata at the National Youth Championships. In addition, he has led the class many times as part of pursuing the Bronze Young Leader award, and captained our team of 17 competitors at this year's Northern Regions, showing maturity and responsibility in looking out for our younger members. We are all very proud of him. Note: That's a trampoline injury :).
